KUALA LUMPUR (May 4): The Ministry of Health (MoH) has reiterated its call to the public to download the MySejahtera health application, saying it helps the ministry to obtain early information on users’ health status.

While allowing users to conduct personal health self-assessment, the application helps the ministry to take fast and effective actions to curb the spread of Covid-19 transmission in the country, said health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

The application functions as a "hotspot tracker" in which users can get the information on Covid-19 hotspot areas within one kilometre from their locations.

Besides, it also gives information on the nearest Covid-19 screening facilities as well as provides online advice.

Users can register information of their family members who do not have smartphones, and can check their health status as well.

The MoH said users who have downloaded the application should update from time to time to ensure they enjoy MySejahtera’s full benefits and have access to the latest features and information.

MySejahtera was developed through strategic cooperation among the MoH, National Security Council,  Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (MAMPU), and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission.

Meanwhile, another application created by the government to trace infections is MyTrace,  a contact tracing app that uses Bluetooth to measure how long a user’s phone has been in close proximity to other MyTrace users.

It helps the government to detect contact tracing to those who have tested positive for the virus.

Both applications are free and the public are advised to get them, said Noor Hisham.

The MoH also advised the public to follow the standard operating procedure (SOP) that the government had outlined for the conditional movement control order (CMCO) period starting today.

Malaysia reported 55 new Covid-19 cases today, raising the total to 6,353. The death toll stayed at 105 as no death was reported in the 24-hour period up to noon today.

The ministry also announced 71 recoveries today, bringing the total so far to 4,484, representing 70.6% of overall cases.
