PUTRAJAYA (Feb 11): The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) is in the midst of preparing an organisational-level anti-corruption plan in line with the Government’s objective to be a corruption-free country as stipulated in the National Anti-Corruption Plan (NACP) 2019-2023.
Its Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the Ministry needs its own anti-corruption plan as guidance in implementing the NACP so that it would match its roles and functions as it deals directly with the general public.
He said the Malaysian Competition Commission (MyCC) had also been entrusted with being the key player in breaking the chain of corruption with the help of the Ministry’s Integrity Division.
”Corruption can take place in any situation, especially in matters where competition exists. In this context, MyCC has a very important role to play to overcome it,” he told a press conference after the ministry’s monthly assembly here today.
Saifuddin said the work to formulate the plan began immediately after Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad launched the NACP on Jan 29.
