KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 29): DiGi.Com Bhd, the country’s third-largest mobile operator, is in talks with a Bangkok-based mobile app developer Dreambase Interactive, which DiGi is reportedly interested in Thai entertainment content, Thai news reports said.

The Bangkok Post today reported Dreambase is seeking to venture into Malaysia, ahead of its rivals that include Youtube’s Premium Content Channel and Netflix.

Dreambase is the developer of Watchever app, which provides services of a mobile video rental shop that includes concerts and live TV on the go.

DiGi officials could not be reached for comments.

According to the news report, Dreambase’s expansion plan into Malaysia was a bid to boost the firm’s revenue growth.

It quoted company founder Chatchai Tangchittrong as saying: “We have to go overseas and expand our channel distribution apart from offering mobile apps as this will enable us to reach mass users and generate more revenue in the future.”

At 2.33 pm today, DiGi was up 2 sen or 0.34% to RM5.85 on some 1.2 million shares done.
