PUTRAJAYA: The Immigration Department yesterday refuted an allegation that Sydney-based anti-Lynas campaigner Natalie Lowrey was ill-treated while waiting for deportation.

Its director Datuk Aloyah Mamat said in a statement that Lowrey was well taken care of while her papers were being processed for her deportation to Bali, Indonesia.

Suara Rakyat Malaysia and Himpunan Hijau said Lowrey was mistreated during her 13-hour detention at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport upon her arrival on Aug 31.
