KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 28): The Department of Civil Aviation Malaysia (DCA) has issued a precautionary statement to warn the public that it did not issue any Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) for a seaplane activity in Putrajaya that is planned for next month.

In a statement today, DCA director-general Datuk Seri Azharuddin Abdul Rahman said based on an advertisement being circulated in social media called SeaPlane @Putrajaya, the department is made to understand that there will be an activity arranged by an organisation at Putrajaya Recreational Airfield, Precint 6, Putrajaya on Jan 20, 2018.

"DCA wish to inform members of the public that the department has not issued any AOC to the organisation involved. For aircraft operation involving the transport of passengers for hire or reward, an AOC issued by the director-general is a requirement," Azharuddin said.

"Since Putrajaya is a government office and housing area, DCA feels that the safety of the public is of utmost importance and priority. Thus, the public is advised to kindly check with DCA before engaging in this activity. This is solely a precautionary and safety measure and to hinder any issues that might arise," he added.

Quick check on Facebook found an activity with the name is arranged by an organisation called OneDayPilot; the activity is meant to provide trial flight on seaplane for potential buyers.
