SINGAPORE (May 25): DBS Group Holdings has adopted the usage of Apple Pay, a type of mobile payment that can be made using an Apple device.

Starting Wednesday, all customers with any DBS/POSB Visa and MasterCard consumer credit or debit cards are eligible to use Apple Pay.

Apple Pay works with iPhone SE, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and Apple Watch.

It is also compatible with those devices when paying for goods and services within apps. This extends to iPad Air 2, iPad mini 3, iPad mini 4 and iPad Pro, with the exception of Apple Watch.

For each transaction, users of Apple Pay are required to provide authorisation with a one-time unique dynamic security code.

The credit or debit card numbers are not stored on the device nor on Apple servers.

Instead, a unique device account number is assigned, encrypted and securely stored in the Secure Element on the user's device.

Shares of DBS ended lower at US$15.16 on Tuesday.
