KUALA LUMPUR (April 23): It could have been another day for Datuk Seri Najib Razak and Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor at the KL Court Complex today.
But while Rosmah's case management for her RM1.5 million solar project corruption case proceeded, Najib's SRC trial — which is slated to continue its seventh day at 12pm today — is seeing some delay.
The former premier's appeal to recuse Datuk Seri Gopal Sri Ram as the lead prosecutor in another case — over RM2.23 billion allegedly siphoned from 1Malaysia Development Bhd — is still being heard in the Palace of Justice in Putrajaya.
But the SRC trial may still continue, with more recipients of cheques issued from Najib's AmBank accounts expected to testify today.
There has been eleven prosecution witnesses so far, six of whom underlined the purpose of the funds obtained from the former premier.
This includes money channelled through the personal bank account of a Kedah Umno division chief for party programmes, college fees for the children of one of Najib's former aides, and for more home infrastructure works — this time for his house in Pekan, Pahang.
Meanwhile, the cross-examination of fourth prosecution witness Ahmad Farhan Sharifuddin from Bank Negara Malaysia may continue today in relation to email transcripts obtained from the central bank's July 2015 raid on AmBank Jalan Raja Chulan.
The Edge is bringing the proceedings involving the former premier live.
