KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 22): After 57 witnesses and 57 days of testifying in Datuk Seri Najib Razak's SRC International Sdn Bhd trial, oral submissions on whether the former premier will be ordered to be called for defence or acquitted will be heard today at the High Court.

Najib's defence team led by counsel Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah and Harvinderjit Singh is expected to submit first on why Najib, who is also Pekan MP, should not enter into his defence or be acquitted.

They are also expected to say what Najib's defence is.

After the defence submits, the prosecution led by attorney general Tan Sri Tommy Thomas and appointed public prosecutor Datuk V Sithambaram will submit.

This will be followed by a reply by the defence team.

The whole proceedings is expected to take two days, namely today and tomorrow.

Then Justice Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali is expected to take a few days to decide before delivering his decision on whether defence will be called or otherwise on Nov 11.

Najib is facing three counts of money laundering under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001 for receiving RM27 million and RM5 million on Dec 26, 2014 and RM10 million on Feb 10, 2015 from SRC.

He is also facing three charges of criminal breach of trust under the Penal Code and one abuse of power charge under the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009 in relation to the said offences.
