KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 23): The defence in former premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak's SRC International Sdn Bhd trial intends to conclude its cross-examination of Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) investigating officer Rosli Hussain today.

Following the defence’s conclusion of cross-examination, it will be the prosecution’s re-examination of Rosli, who is the 57th and final witness called by them.

Whether the prosecution will be able to conclude its case today will determine whether or not the government can proceed with the 1MDB trial or the Tanore case, next week.

Parties will appear before Justice Collin Lawrence Sequerah's court for the final case management at 4.30pm for the judge to decide on whether to start the trial on Aug 27 as requested by the prosecution or Sep 3 as requested by the defence.

Yesterday Rosli, in a grilling cross examination by the defence team, disagreed with the notion that missing businessman Low Taek Jho was solely responsible for the embezzlement activities in SRC International.

Defence counsel Harvinderjit Singh had suggested that the fugitive financier, better known as Jho Low, was the person responsible for the misappropriation of the former 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) unit's funds, of which Rosli disagreed.

Rosli, reiterating his point twice, stated that Low Taek Jho does not have an interest in this case, and rather it is the former premier who has an interest with regards to the SRC funds.

Against this backdrop The Edge is reporting today’s proceedings involving Najib, who is the highest ranking politician to be charged in court, live.
