KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 27): Datasonic Group Bhd’s net profit for its third quarter of financial year ending Mar 31, 2015 (3QFY15) came in at RM15.58 million or 1.15 sen per share, on revenue of RM60.38 million.

Datasonic (fundamental: 1.6; valuation: 1.5) did not provide a year-on-year comparison, because it had changed its financial year end from December. However, for illustrative purposes, in the three months ended Dec 31, 2013, it made RM22.82 million in net profit, on revenue of RM72.55 million.

When compared against the preceding quarter, Datasonic’s 3QFY15 earnings were 65.67% higher, while revenue improved by 12.89%. Its 2QFY15 net profit was RM9.4 million, while revenue was RM53.49 million.

Most of the group’s 3QFY15 revenue — at RM51.63 million — came from the supply of smart cards, datapages, consumables and personalisation solutions, Datasonic said in its latest quarterly financials’ notes.

Datasonic’s cumulative net profit for FY15 (9MFY15) came to RM65.12 million or 4.82 sen a share. Revenue was RM237.26 million.

As for its 4QFY15, Datasonic said it expected a “satisfactory” performance, “barring any unforeseen circumstances”.

Datasonic closed unchanged at RM1.10, with a market capitalisation of RM1.49 billion.
