TUMPAT (July 12): Kelantan DAP is targetting 40 new branches in the state, which has 14 parliamentary constituencies, by year end.
Its chairman Chua Chin Hui said so far, all parliamentary constituencies there had branches except for Jeli and that they had also penetrated PAS strongholds like Pengkalan Chepa and Kubang Kerian.
"We now have 36 branches, including new ones in Pengkalan Chepa, Kubang Kerian, Kelaboran and Wakaf Bharu.
"Out of the number, 26 have had their registration approved by the Regsitrar of Societies,” he told reproters, after a ceremony for the handing over of membership application for the Kelaboran and Wakaf Bharu branches here today.
Also present was Kelantan DAP vice president I Datuk Azaha Abdul Rani.
Before the Pakatan Harapan (a coalition of Bersatu, DAP, PKR and Amanah) came into power in the country after the 14th general election in May last year, DAP had made very little inroads in Kelantan. — Bernama
