KUALA LUMPUR (April 12): Cycle & Carriage Bintang Bhd (CCB)’s chairman Haslam Grey Preeston has resigned from his position effective April 30.

He is to be replaced by 49-year-old Singaporean Eric Chan Tze Choong, who will helm the group beginning May 1.

According to a bourse filing, Preeston, 42, is resigning as part of the group’s succession planning.

Preeston, an Australian national, first joined the group on Feb 21, 2014, as a non-independent and non-executive director, and was made chairman on April 19, 2016.

Preeston is also Cycle & Carriage Myanmar Chairman and Indonesia based PT Tunas Ridean Tbk Commissioner.

Chan, a Singaporean national, is currently the Managing Director of Cycle & Carriage Singapore, having occupied the position in 2012.

From 2009 to 2010, he was Cycle & Carriage Industries Pte Ltd Director of its Mercedes-Benz operations.

Prior to that from 2006 to 2009 he was Cycle & Carriage Industries Pte Ltd (Mercedes-Benz operations) General Manager.

The counter closed 1.33% or two sen lower at RM1.48 — with 32,200 shares traded — giving the group a market capitalisation of RM149.1 million.
