<div class=newsTextDataWrapInner>KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 10): Credit Suisse Group AG has acquired an additional 7.38 million shares or 1.17% stake in CLIQ Energy Bhd through several transactions since beginning of the month. 
 
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, CLIQ Energy noted that the latest purchase was made last Friday (Dec 5), which saw the global financial services institution acquiring some 611,500 shares in the company. The price transacted was not disclosed. 
 
Prior to that, Credit Suisse bought some 4.76 million shares or 0.75% stake via three separate transactions between Dec 2 and 4. 
 
On Nov 28, Credit Suisse also acquired 2 million shares in CLIQ Energy. 
 
Following the purchases, Credit Suisse now owns 44.91 million shares or a 7.117% stake in the oil and gas company. 
 
CLIQ Energy shares closed unchanged at 62 sen today, giving it a market capitalisation of RM391.18 million.

CIMB Thai Bank PCL’s net profit for the first quarter ended March 31, 2024 (1QFY2024) dropped 24.6% year-on-year to 626.1 million baht from 830.1 million baht, as it reported lower operating income and higher expenses.  

The group recorded an 8.4% drop in operating income and an 11.8% increase in operating expenses. The effects of these were partially offset by a 36.9% decline in expected credit loss, according to CIMB Thai president and chief executive officer Paul Wong Chee Kin in a statement.
