KUALA LUMPUR (May 20): The Ministry of Health (MoH) announced 31 new cases today, of which 21 were local transmissions and 10 were imported cases, pushing the national tally past the 7,000-mark to 7,009.

Of the 21 local transmissions, 10 of them involved migrant workers, according to health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

Recoveries outpaced new cases once more, with 60 patients discharged from hospital today, bringing total cured cases to 5,706 cases or 81.4% of overall cases, according to his statement.

Meanwhile, the number of active cases fell to 1,189 from 1,218 reported yesterday, the lowest since March 27.

So far, 11 patients were being treated in the intensive care unit (ICU), with seven needing breathing assistance.

No new death case was recorded today, hence the Covid-19 death toll in the country remained at 114, translating into a 1.63% mortality rate.
