KUALA LUMPUR (June 11): Active Covid-19 cases in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur saw a decline in the two-week period from May 28 until noon yesterday, according to the Ministry of Health (MoH).

According to data provided by the MoH’s Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC), the total number of active cases in the country for the two-week period was 601, down from 608 reported the day before.

In Kuala Lumpur, Cheras remains as the top coronavirus hotspot in the country with 339 active cases. The other three health districts were yellow zones, namely Lembah Pantai (28 active cases), Kepong (four active cases) and Titiwangsa (three active cases).

This brought the total active cases in the capital city down to 374 from 377 reported yesterday. However, Kuala Lumpur still has the highest number of active cases among the states and federal territories.

In Negeri Sembilan, Cheras and Rembau remained as red zones, said the ministry.

Selangor, whose active cases eased to 78 from 81 previously, no longer has any red zones.

Eight health districts in Selangor were yellow zones, namely Sepang with 32 active cases, Kuala Langat (30), Hulu Langat (five), Petaling (four), Gombak (three), Klang and Kuala Selangor (two active cases each), and Sabak Bernam (one).

Meanwhile, Hulu Selangor remains a green zone, as no active cases were recorded in the health district for the two-week period.

The ministry said active cases detected during the two-week period were local transmissions involving Malaysians and non-citizens, and all the patients were being treated in hospitals.

The MoH has three categories of Covid-19 zones: red zones are defined as districts with at least 41 active Covid-19 cases, yellow zones have one to 40 cases, while green zones have no active cases.

Across the country, all health districts in Penang, Perlis, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu stay on the green zone list.

In Peninsular Malaysia, Negeri Sembilan — the state with the second most cases — had 103 active cases, Pahang had 19, Putrajaya and Melaka both had four active cases, Johor had three while Perak had one.

Over in East Malaysia, Sabah had 10 active cases, Sarawak had three while Labuan had one.

Yesterday, Malaysia reported the lowest daily figure since the implementation of the Movement Control Order on March 18, with only two cases, bringing the total cumulative cases to 8,338.

However, one more person succumbed to Covid-19, raising the death toll to 118, translating to 1.42% of overall cases.

The MoH also reported 39 recoveries yesterday.

This brought the total recovered patients to 7,014, representing an 84.1% recovery rate.
