KUALA LUMPUR (May 9): The number of Covid-19 positive cases in the Pedas cluster rose to 88 today, from 60 reported yesterday, according to the Ministry of Health (MoH). The numbers grew after 28 new cases were detected as of noon.

From the total, 81 involved foreigners, with 33 from Nepal, 26 from Bangladesh, 11 from Indonesia and another 11 from Myanmar.

The source of infection was still under investigation, said health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in a statement.

On May 2, the ministry identified the new cluster of infections linked to a factory worker in Pedas, Negeri Sembilan.

The index case, who started feeling unwell on April 5, with fever, cough and flu-like symptoms as well as breathing difficulty, was diagnosed Covid-19 positive a week later.
