KUALA LUMPUR (April 15): Lembah Pantai continues to be the worst-hit coronavirus hotspot in the country with 572 cases or 11.5% of the country’s total number of infections (4,987) as of Tuesday noon, according to the Ministry of Health.

Lembah Pantai located in Kuala Lumpur has topped 500 cases, which is higher than other countries in Asia such as Taiwan with 393 cases, Vietnam (267) and Brunei (136).

Selangor, Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur alone accounted for 2,252 of the country’s 4,987 Covid-19 cases as of Tuesday noon, according to the Ministry of Health

Based on the statistics provided by the Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC), total red zones in Malaysia rose to 27, with Hulu Langat recording the second highest number of cases. It has registered 433 cases after adding 14 new infections from 419 cases on April 13.

Other red zones in Peninsular Malaysia included Petaling with 359 cases, Seremban (261), Kluang (201), Johor Bahru (184), Klang (167), Gombak (141), Kepong (131), Titiwangsa (122), Kinta (93), Kota Bharu (90), Kuantan (91), Cheras (74), Jerantut (70), Jasin (68), Sepang (67), Hilir Perak (65), Putrajaya (54), Rembau (53), Batu Pahat (51), Melaka Tengah (51) and Hulu Selangor (49).

In East Malaysia, Kuching recorded 240 cases, while Tawau had 79 cases and Kota Samarahan had 51 cases.

Meanwhile, Kota Kinabalu in Sabah was now on the brink of being classified a red zone, with 40 cases recorded.

Sabah had a total of 285 cases as of Tuesday noon, while Sarawak had 363.

The government had completed sanitisation operations nationwide, according to Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
