KUALA LUMPUR (May 8): The number of green zones in Kuala Lumpur rose to seven — Alam Damai, Bangsar, Bukit Damansara, Datuk Keramat, Kepong, Mont Kiara and Connaught — from six previously, according to the Ministry of Health (MoH).

Meanwhile, Kuala Lumpur has the highest number of active Covid-19 cases at 447, followed by Selangor (222), Sarawak (191) and Johor (156).

Based on statistics provided by the MoH’s Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre, the number of red zones in Kuala Lumpur remained at four, comprising Batu, Ibu Kota, Kampung Bharu and Sri Petaling.

Ibu Kota had 155 active cases against 295 confirmed infections; it is still the area the highest number of confirmed infections in Kuala Lumpur.

However, the number of active cases in Batu had risen further to 98, from 91 cases on Thursday (May 6), versus 113 confirmed infections.

Kampung Bharu had 67 active cases versus 110 confirmed infections, while Sri Petaling had 45 active cases (442 total cases).

There were 18 health districts in the capital city categorised as yellow zones.

According to the MoH, red zones are defined as districts with at least 41 active Covid-19 cases, yellow zones have one to 40 cases, while green zones have no active cases.

The number of cumulative cases across the country had increased to 6,467 with 1,584 active cases.

Yesterday, 20 of the 39 new cases nationwide were from Kuala Lumpur. This pushed the tally in the capital city to 1,398 cases or 21.6% of overall cases.

Eight cases were detected in Pusat Bandar Utara and Kuala Lumpur wholesale market, which are under enhanced movement control order, bringing the total cases to 189.

Meanwhile, seven new cases were detected among the security guards in Cheras Mall — a new cluster in the capital city, bringing the total cases in this cluster to 10. 

As at noon yesterday, there were 10 health districts classified as red zones, 78 yellow zones, and 113 green zones.
