KUALA LUMPUR (May 29): The Ministry of Health (MoH) has found a new cluster of infections involving migrant workers of a cleaning company, with 24 confirmed positive as at noon today.

The confirmed cases are all Bangladesh nationals. They account for 23.3% of the new 103 daily cases reported as of noon today.

In a statement, MoH director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said these cases were detected by a private clinic that had conducted screening tests on several workers of the cleaning company.

The screening was done voluntarily and on the initiative of the employer, he said. The company has screened 150 of its migrant workers, of whom 126 were found negative.

As for the 24 found positive, 20 of them live in a dorm in Kuala Langat, Selangor. They are now being treated in the Sungai Buloh Hospital.

The remainder four, who share an apartment in Nilai, Negri Sembilan, are being treated at the Tuanku Jaafar Hospital in Seremban.

Following the detection of this new cluster, 428 people have been identified - from among the residents of the areas concerned and the infected's close contacts - to be screened, said Dr Noor Hisham.

Malaysia’s total COVID-19 cases now stand at 7,732, with recoveries at 6,235, representing a recovery rate of 80.6%.

The country's death toll from the coronavirus remains at 115, as no new death was reported today.
