KUALA LUMPUR (June 7): As of noon today, Malaysia saw the number of daily new Covid-19 cases declined once more to 19, from 37 yesterday.

At the Ministry of Health (MoH)’s daily briefing, director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said that today’s number brought total cases in Malaysia to 8,322, with active cases rising to 1,531.

Of the 19 new cases, six were imported, while the remaining 13 cases were locally transmitted. Of the local transmissions, 11 cases involved Malaysians, while two cases involved foreigners.

In a breakdown of the locally transmitted cases involving Malaysians, Selangor saw six new cases. These included two cases at a rehabilitation centre in Dengkil, two cases in the tahfiz school cluster, one detainee at the district police headquarters in Sabak Bernam and one case at a workplace in Klang.

Kuala Lumpur saw two new cases. One case was in the Cheras apartment cluster, while another came from a new cluster in Gombak, a close contact of case No 7,064 and case No 7,246.

Meanwhile, Negeri Sembilan saw one new case, a factory worker in Seremban. Sabah saw two new cases — family members of cases No 3,641 and No 4,537.

Of the cases involving foreigners, one was in Kuala Lumpur, while another case was in Selangor.

As for the imported cases, four came from India and two cases came from Brunei.

Five positive cases were in intensive care units (ICU), with none requiring respiratory assistance.

Meanwhile, the ministry reported 39 recoveries, bringing the total amount of recoveries in the country to 6,674 cases, translating into a recovery rate of 80.2% of the total number of cases.

There was no death today, leaving the total number of deaths at 117, resulting in a mortality rate of 1.4%.

In terms of active clusters, the Gombak cluster, a new one, saw one new case today, bringing the total amount of cases in the cluster to five.

The Kuala Lumpur construction site cluster 2 contributed one new case as well, resulting in the cluster containing 68 cases.

Additionally, the Cheras apartment cluster also contributed one new case, bringing the cluster’s caseload to eight cases.
