KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 4): Malaysia today logged 1,141 new Covid-19 cases, raising the country's cumulative confirmed infections above the 70,000 mark to 70,236, according to health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
Dr Noor Hisham said, the Klang Valley — comprising Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya — recorded the bulk of cases with 578 cases or 50.7% of the total new cases.
“Both Selangor and Sabah recorded the highest number of [Covid-19] infections, with 320 cases respectively. This was followed by Kuala Lumpur, which registered 256 cases,” said Dr Noor Hisham at a media briefing today. Putrajaya recorded two cases.
He also updated that 1,144 more Covid-19 patients have recovered in the past 24 hours — which raised the number of recoveries to 59,061 or 84% of overall infections. The death toll remained at 376, with no new additions.

This leaves 10,799 active cases, which carry transmission risks, according to the ministry.
Of the new cases today, 32 cases are linked to infection clusters in prisons and temporary detention centres. These include the Tembok cluster in Kedah (18 cases), the Jalan Harapan cluster in Selangor (six), the Bakti cluster in Negeri Sembilan (four), the PTS Sibuga cluster in Sabah (three), and the Remand Prison cluster in Penang (one).
Three out of new daily cases today were imported infections. They involve those who had travelled from Indonesia, Bangladesh and the United Arab Emirates.
Sabah remains the worst-hit state with a total of 29,897 Covid-19 infections, followed by Selangor (15,854), Kuala Lumpur (6,622) and Negeri Sembilan (5,190).
