KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 9): Recoveries from Covid-19 rose to 1,345 today, the highest since the pandemic struck Malaysia in January, bringing total recoveries to 29,579.

The cured cases also surpassed the 972 new infections today, said the Ministry of Health (MoH) in a statement.

Sabah again posted the highest daily positive cases with 370 infections (38.1% of new cases), while Negeri Sembilan had 260 (26.7%), the second-highest amid rising infections, whereas Selangor posted 138 infections (14.2%), the third-highest in the country.

Total cases have risen to 41,181 while active cases now stand at 11,308.

Eight fatalities were recorded today, raising the death toll to 294.

The deceased were five men and three women, seven of whom were from Sabah except for a 66-year-old man from Labuan.

Among the fatalities was a one-year-old boy who had a hole in his heart, Down Syndrome and hypothyroidism.

The rest of the deceased were 51 to 72 years old and had health problems.

Nationwide, 86 patients were in intensive care, with 31 on ventilators.

Six new clusters today

During a press conference, MoH director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said six new clusters have emerged today.

The largest of the six is known as the Perigi cluster involving Klang in Selangor. This cluster accounts for 39 of the total cases in the country and one of today's new cases.

The other clusters were found in Kota Belud and Kota Kinabalu in Sabah, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Alor Gajah in Melaka, and Kota Tinggi in Johor.

As it stands, Negeri Sembilan has 247 clusters, Sabah has 113, Selangor has 56 while Kuala Lumpur has 13.

Meanwhile, the Bah Perdana cluster in Kuala Lumpur was declared ended.
