KUALA LUMPUR (May 14): Active cases in Negeri Sembilan had risen to 198 as of noon yesterday, from 182 on May 12, according to the Ministry of Health (MoH).

According to an infographic provided by the MoH’s Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC), there were two red zones in Negeri Sembilan, including Rembau and Seremban.

Rembau had 151 active cases, the highest in the state, while Seremban had 41 active cases.

Health districts Jempol, Kuala Pilah and Port Dickson were classified as yellow zones, while Jelebu and Tampin were categorised as green zones (no active case).

The MoH has three categories of Covid-19 zones: Red zones are defined as districts with at least 41 active Covid-19 cases, yellow zones have 1 to 40 cases, while green zones have no active case.

Negeri Sembilan was the state with the second highest number of active cases, followed by Selangor (146) and Sarawak (130).

Kuala Lumpur continued to lead with 483 active cases, a mere increase of one case from Tuesday.

Active cases in downtown Kuala Lumpur dropped by four to 155 cases, but over in Pudu — where over 500 migrant workers at the wet market there and its surrounding areas were recently screened for Covid-19 — seven more infections were detected, raising the number of active cases to 28.

The number of cumulative cases of Covid-19 rose to 6,779, with 1,387 active cases across the country.

Yesterday, 22 new cases were reported in Negeri Sembilan, from the total of 37 new cases nationwide.

This pushed the state’s tally to 764 cases, or 11.3% of the country's total.

Based on slides given by the MoH, 20 new cases were detected in the Pedas cluster, bringing the total cases of the cluster to 151.

The cluster was detected on May 2, and the source of infections was traced back to a factory worker in Pedas, Negeri Sembilan.

The index case, who started feeling unwell on April 5, came down with fever, cough, flu-like symptoms and breathing difficulty, and was diagnosed with Covid-19 a week later.

As at noon yesterday, the number of red zones remained at eight. Yellow zones fell to 70, while the number of green zones increased to 123.
