KUALA LUMPUR: The High Court has fixed a new date, Aug 19, to begin the hearing of 25 charges against former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak for his alleged involvement in 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).

High Court Judge Collin Lawrence Sequerah warned both the prosecution and defence to not postpone the hearing of the 1MDB case again.

This is the second time Justice Sequerah vacated the fixed hearing date to make way for the hearing of Najib’s ongoing SRC International Sdn Bhd case.

Justice Sequerah said the 1MDB case hearing will go on from Aug 19 to Aug 29, the whole of September and October, and the first two weeks of November. The hearings over this period will take place on all weekdays except Friday.

Meanwhile, as the defence lead counsel Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah has to attend the hearing for the Samira Muzaffar case (Cradle Fund CEO murder) at the Shah Alam High Court in September, Justice Sequerah suggested that Shafee write an application to postpone the case.

The court then adjourned, and Najib proceeded to attend the 12th day of his SRC trial.
