KUALA LUMPUR (April 17): Costa Coffee Malaysia and its employees have personally raised RM6,000 as food donations for frontliners at hospitals and the homeless, and as donations to Mercy Malaysia.

In a statement today, the franchise said it had raised funds for Mercy Malaysia to purchase equipment to ensure food supplies are available to communities currently facing difficulties getting fresh food supplies.

It added that its employees have sponsored food for the homeless via the Kechara Soup Kitchen, while distributing food to the medical teams and frontline staff at Sungai Buloh Hospital, University Malaya Specialist Centre and Pusat Perubatan Universiti Malaya.

“Costa Coffee and its employees have embarked on such initiatives as they understand the predicament faced by the homeless and the challenges in finding food during the Movement Restriction Order. Costa Coffee Malaysia and its employees have chosen to come together to help wherever possible during this challenging time,” it said.

As Malaysians and Costa Coffee employees, whose company’s mission is committed to supporting its customers, the communities and people, they pray that their efforts and contributions have provided some aid to not only the healthcare personnel, frontliners, and medical teams at the hospitals but also to the communities that need food/supplies, it said.

The coffee chain added that it is supportive, appreciative and grateful to employees at all levels when it comes to assisting the homeless and hospitals amid the current circumstances.

The master franchisee of Costa Coffee in Malaysia is Gapurna Permai Sdn Bhd.
