KUALA UMPUR (May 13): Citigroup Global Markets Ltd has emerged as Stemlife Bhd’s new substantial shareholder, having acquired a 6.42% direct stake in the stem cell banking firm recently.

Based on a filing with Bursa Malaysia this evening, Citigroup Global had acquired over 15.89 million shares in Stemlife in the open market on May 6, 2015, at undisclosed prices.

Citigroup will join Stemlife’s other substantial shareholders, including Singapore’s Cordlife Group Ltd which holds a 31.82% equity interest and Tan Sri Vincent Tan’s Berjaya Corp Bhd which owns a 10.62% stake in the company.

Stemlife closed at 40.5 sen, down 0.5 sen or 1.22%. This gives it a market capitalisation of RM100.2 million.
