KUALA LUMPUR: PKR will take disciplinary action against suspended member Badrul Hisham Shahrin, better known as “Chegubard”, for attacking the party in the media, says Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail (pic).

The party president, in announcing this yesterday, said the matter would be handled by the newly appointed party disciplinary board chief General (Rtd) Datuk Abdul Hadi Abdul Khatab.

“We have submitted the request to the board,” she said, responding to Chegubard’s allegation that the current Selangor Menteri Besar, Mohamed Azmin Ali, had blocked Dr Wan Azizah’s bid for the post in October.

Dr Wan Azizah said Chegubard’s allegation was a non-issue as PKR and Pakatan Rakyat had already agreed to support Mohamed Azmin as the new MB.

“We support all efforts made so far by the new MB so this issue does not arise.

“To me, it (the allegation) is more personal in nature,” she said.

In an immediate reaction, Chegubard slammed his critics: “What are we turning to? I love PKR, that is why I am voicing out the unfairness,” he said, hoping that his critics would accept criticism with an open mind and heart.

“All I am saying is that there should not be two different set of rules in tackling issues or members of the party. Leaders, members, all should be dealt with equally. I only want the best for the party,” he said.

Angkatan Muda Keadilan central committee member Zafril Eusoff reportedly said that Chegubard’s statement was recycled with the intent to split and embarrass the party. He urged Chegubard to leave the party, saying that his action would only destroy the party and the good relations among party leaders.

“The Youth wing has a problem. They cannot even appoint the branch leader or the state youth leader because there are few factions in the wing. So, he (Zafril) should fix that first instead of asking me to leave the party,” said Chegubard.

He was suspended from the party with immediate effect on May 28, following his media outbursts, which criticised the party’s election process. — The Malaysian Insider
