KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 26): CTOS Digital Bhd, which is among the credit reporting agencies suspended from accessing the Central Credit Reference Information System (CCRIS) amid potential cyberthreats, said that its assessment indicated no breach of its data assets.
In a letter submitted to its clients on Monday (Oct 25) sighted by The Edge, CTOS stated that it completed and submitted a compromise assessment to Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) last week. It is understood that the assessment was received by the central bank on Oct 20.
“The findings confirmed that CTOS’ data assets are secure and there is no indication of [any] breach,” CTOS said.
“We are now awaiting BNM to finish its review of our compromise assessment report.
“Based on the findings that show no data breach, we expect the CCRIS suspension to be lifted soon,” CTOS added.
On Oct 1, BNM temporarily suspended CCRIS access to all credit reporting agencies as a precautionary measure against potential cyberthreats. The central bank required all agencies to conduct a review of their data assets and infrastructure with independent cybersecurity experts.
On Monday, Experian Malaysia became the first agency whose CCRIS access was reinstated by BNM after the latter found no breach of user data.
CTOS, meanwhile, in its letter said all of its other services including company searches, court document searches and land searches are available as usual.
At the time of writing on Tuesday, shares in CTOS were four sen or 2.08% higher at RM1.96, valuing the group at RM4.31 billion.
