SHAH ALAM (July 27): Carlist.my, an automotive portal in Malaysia, is confident of seeing positive response to its online car auction service when it is launched on Aug 13, said iCar Asia Ltd chief executive officer Hamish Stone.

The company owns Carlist.my, which has seen a 50% increase in unique visitors to more than three million a month as at June this year, compared to 2.1 million a year ago.

Stone attributed the increase to the rising use of smartphones.

"We anticipated we will have huge volume of people who might be interested to use the service. We think we can ramp up the car selling to 100 cars per month through the online car auction service because we have the largest dealer network in Malaysia," Stone said after the launch of Drive: Auto Fair 2018 and #Safedriving Campaign today.

Stone is confident the online car auction service will do well by tapping into its network of 3,500 active dealers accounts which will help sellers get better pricing through competitive bidding.
