KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 14): The Center of Applied Science (CADS) has appointed Joey Mak as its managing director, effective Nov 7.

In a statement yesterday, CADS founder Sharala Axryd said appointing someone of Mak's calibre into the business was a great endorsement of its strategy and ambition.

She said Mak had 20 years of leadership experience and knowledge in IT industries and data analytics-related businesses.

Armed with a full technological certificate in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mak joined the technology industry and gathered experiences from the likes of IBM Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Fujitsu Systems Business Malaysia and his most current position, chief operating officer at Hitachi Sunway Information Systems, said Axryd.

She said at CADS, Mak will play a key role in strategising towards the betterment and growth of the company.

He will also be looking into managing budgetary matters and continually increase efficacy and revenue for CADS.

"Mak is determined to ensure that CADS reaches its level of excellence and continues to be ASEAN's first and only comprehensive data science training institution, where learning, networking and professional growth is integrated," she said.
