KUALA LUMPUR (April 14): The Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) encourages businesses that have existing approval to operate during the movement control order (MCO) to make a fresh application for the third phase.

The ministry said businesses can get a new approval letter with a new format which includes a QR code for ease of verification by local authorities.

MITI had earlier given approval for 2,732 companies to operate as usual during the MCO and has extended this approval for the third phase, which will last from tomorrow to April 28.

“MITI will also upgrade the configuration system, namely the Covid-19 Intelligent Management System (CIMS) 2.0, for companies operating during the third phase of the MCO. This effort is carried out by CyberSecurity Malaysia and various private IT companies,” it said in a statement.

The application process was expected to begin at 3pm today, said MITI.

Regardless, MITI said companies can still make an application at application.miti.gov.my.
