KUALA LUMPUR (March 17): Serba Dinamik Holdings Bhd said today the company and its subsidiaries will continue to operate as normal during Malaysia’s 14-day movement control order to curb the Covid-19 outbreak.

This is because the group’s project teams need to deliver continuous support to its clients in critical areas of the oil and gas industry to ensure minimal or no disruption to their operations, it said.

“Serba Dinamik has put in place the necessary precaution infrastructure, rules and strict processes to comply [with] and maintain the safety of our staff and clients,” Serba Dinamik group managing director Datuk Dr Mohd Abdul Karim Abdullah said in a statement today.

It was reported that the government had decided to implement the movement control order from tomorrow (March 18) until March 31 to address the Covid-19 outbreak.

In a live national address yesterday, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the order was made under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 and the Police Act 1967.

He said the order entails comprehensive restriction on movements and public gatherings nationwide, including religious, sports, social and cultural activities. It includes the shutdown of houses of worship and business premises, except for supermarkets, public markets, and convenient stores.

At the time of writing, Serba Dinamik’s share price fell seven sen or 4.67% to RM1.43, giving the company a market capitalisation of RM4.54 billion. The stock saw some nine million shares traded.
