KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 19): Bursa Malaysia issued an unusual market activity (UMA) query on poultry entity Lay Hong Bhd's recent share price gains.

Lay Hong shares, which closed at RM6.75 on Jan 8 this year, had changed hands at RM7.84 yesterday (Jan 18).

Today, the stock added 65 sen or 8% at 12:30pm to settle at RM8.49, for a market value of RM445.73 million. The second-largest gainer on Bursa Malaysia saw 114,300 shares transacted.

Bursa Malaysia told Lay Hong on the bourse regulator's website: "We draw your attention to the recent sharp rise in price of your company’s shares."

Lay Hong had not responded to Bursa Malaysia's UMA query at the time of writing.
