PETALING JAYA: The three-day ground activation campaign following last Thursday’s launch of The Edge Media Group’s all-new theedgeproperty.com , and The Edge Property pullout that comes free with The Edge Financial Daily on Fridays, concluded yesterday.

“The activation campaign is to get the word out — of the launch of the portal and the pullout. We want to empower our readers and users of The Edge Property pullout and theedgeproperty.com portal to make better property investment decisions,” said The Edge Communications Sdn Bhd managing director Au Foong Yee.

Au added that The Edge Property pullout serves to complement contents of theedgeproperty.com

“Readers will find comprehensive articles and data in The Edge Property pullout that are related to topics posted on the portal,” she said.

The campaign successfully reached the more than 10,000 people it targeted, and saw theedgeproperty.com cruisers sweeping into high-traffic locations in the Kuala Lumpur city centre, as well as in and around the Klang Valley over the weekend.

Alongside the cruisers were four human billboards dressed in black skinsuits and six brand ambassadors wearing 3D model home caps tasked to hand out balloons as well as debut copies of The Edge Property pullout that hit the stands last Friday.

Users, in immediate feedback on theedgeproperty.com , gave positive comments while affirming the fact that in making decisions about investments, they would often go online for more information.

“I believe the new web portal and the pullout will create more transparency in the local property market, especially with the help of the accurate transacted data and research analysis,” said 32-year-old IT consultant Edison Liong Chan Yong.

The Singapore-based professional added: “It is indeed a good effort, especially in assisting buyers and investors as myself.”

Another reader, Chandler Kwek, 30, project director of web company Sweetmag Solutions, said he prefers user-generated websites for property news. Still, he believes it is good that The Edge is expanding its property coverage to online.

“The good thing about theedgeproperty.com is the fact that it educates the users on the latest rental rates, average transaction prices and so on, for free.

“As an investor, that kind of data is most valuable,” Kwek added.

Mohd Kabir Mohd Akram, 29, was among those who admitted to relying on the Web to learn more about location-based aspects including nearby amenities.

“As prior research, I look online for the property’s price per sq ft, built-ups, values and rental rates,” the structural engineer at Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd told The Edge Financial Daily when met during the ground activation campaign.

Expatriate Ananda Ferro, 61, from Italy said he had applied similar research methods before deciding to rent his current apartment in Ampang to enjoy his retirement.

“I researched rental rates online from property portals before deciding on my stay here in Malaysia.

“So long as theedgeproperty.com offers accurate data and articulate information, investors and expats like myself will definitely find it to be a beneficial source of reference,” Ferro, who has been in Kuala Lumpur for two years now, said.

Since the start of the ground activation campaign, the cruisers, human billboards and brand ambassadors had covered areas including Bukit Damansara, KL Sentral, Mont’Kiara, Petaling Jaya malls in Mutiara Damansara and Kota Damansara, as well as Bangsar, Bukit Bintang, Putrajaya and other popular areas in the city centre.

Several roadshows in Peninsular Malaysia are being planned to promote theedgeproperty.com .
