KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 13): BSL Corp Bhd has been slapped with an unusual market activity (UMA) query by Bursa Malaysia after its share price surged 44 sen or 29.73% to a record high of RM1.92 today.
The counter, which was the third top gainer of the day, saw 23.34 million shares traded.
Based on its current share price, the metal parts manufacturer has a market capitalisation of RM145.04 million.
Bursa, in its query, asked BSL Corp whether there was any corporate development, rumour or report relating to the group’s business and affairs — or any other possible explanation — that may have accounted for the trading activity.
In January, BSL Corp received a similar UMA query following a steep rise in its share price.
In its response to that query, the group said that a third party had approached its major shareholder with unsolicited interest to acquire its shareholding in the company.
However, the group said its major shareholder had described the discussion as preliminary, which may or may not result in a firm offer by the third party.
