(Sept 7): The brother of missing prominent deputy public prosecutor, Kevin Anthony Morais (pic), is pleading with Malaysians to help find his sibling, reported The Star.

The English-language daily quoted Charles Morais, who lives in Georgia, United States, as saying he is trying to get any information on his brother's disappearance.

Charles, who last spoke to Kevin on Thursday, is expected to fly to Malaysia on Wednesday.

"I believe he is still alive, but I am afraid of what they might do to him. He must have made enemies via his job,” he was quoted as saying in the report.

The Star reported that Kevin was born in Ipoh and studied at SMK Anderson. The eldest of four brothers, he studied law at the University of London.

He was called to the Bar in the 1980s and in 1985, became a magistrate before going to the Attorney-General Chambers (AGC) later as a deputy public prosecutor.

He was seconded to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) where he served as legal and prosecution division deputy director for 10 years, and then returned to the AGC about two to three months ago.

Despite speculations on social media over his disappearance, Attorney-General (A-G) Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali told The Malaysian Insider yesterday that Kevin was not part of the government task force investigating the controversial 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

Charles told The Star Kevin did not talk about anything related to his work.

He also pleaded with Apandi and Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar to find his brother.

“How can a public prosecutor disappear like this in a government-issued vehicle? I hope the IGP and the Home Ministry will make this their first and only priority,” he was further quoted as saying.

The Star reported that Kevin's family and friends are equally puzzled over his disappearance and are turning to the media for more clues.

Kevin was reported missing on Friday after he left his Menara Duta residence for work.

Sources said Morais had left home driving a government-issued vehicle, a grey Proton Perdana bearing the registration WA6264Q about 9am.

Early yesterday, a burnt car was found in Hutan Melintang, Perak, fuelling suspicion that it might belong to the missing DPP. – The Malaysian Insider
