KUALA LUMPUR (June 8): Bank Negara Malaysia's (BNM) said its international reserves amounted to US$110.9 billion as at May 31, up 0.27% from US$110.6 billion as at May 12.

The reserves position is sufficient to finance 8.4 months of retained imports and is 1.1 times total short-term external debt, BNM said in a statement.

The central bank said its international reserves as at May 31 included US$103.2 billion in foreign currency reserves and US$1.4 billion worth of International Monetary Fund (IMF) reserves.

Also included were US$1.2 billion worth of IMF-linked special drawing rights, US$2.1 billion worth of gold and US$3 billion in other reserve assets.
