KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 18): Bank Negara Malaysia has allowed individual new users to directly register for eCCRIS online from Friday (Feb 18).

In a statement, the central bank said individual Malaysians who have a MyKad and online facilities may now register for the service at eccris.bnm.gov.my, without having to set foot into a BNM or Agensi Kaunseling dan Pengurusan Kredit (AKPK) office.

Among the steps required to register include making a RM1 online transfer to a designated BNM account via internet banking. The amount will be refunded within two working days upon registration.

"This step allows for the identities of individuals to be confirmed digitally, taking away the need for physical verification," said BNM.

According to the central bank's deputy governor Marzunisham Omar, the enhancements make it more convenient and safe for individual users to register for eCCRIS and have access to their CCRIS reports.

Meanwhile, companies and non-Malaysian individuals may still register as new users through eLINK at telelink.bnm.gov.my.
