KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 17): Homegrown financial technology (fintech) outfit BigPay is expanding its range of financial services in Malaysia with the launch of cash top-up at any of the over 2,400 7-Eleven locations nationwide.

In a statement today, the company said existing users can now top up their BigPay account at any of the 7-Eleven locations nationwide.

The firm said as 7-Eleven has more locations than most banks have branches in Malaysia, this gives BigPay a unique advantage when it comes to providing financial services across the country.

BigPay’s co-founder Salim Dhanani said ensuring that everyone has access to digital banking services is central to the firm's mission and allowing cash to be seamlessly transferred to a BigPay account is a big step in that direction.

“We aim to provide all consumers access to mainstream financial products usually only offered by retail banks, but at much lower costs and with unprecedented efficiency.

“We want to remove physical and monetary barriers preventing people from better managing and using their finances,” he added.

Salim also noted that the company’s successes to date provide a robust foundation for them to solidify their footprint in new markets and product lines in the year ahead.

BigPay, which was launched in 2018, has grown to become one of Malaysia’s largest digital financial platforms by gross transaction value, with over 1.3 million users in the country.

As part of its mission to challenge banking and improve financial services inclusivity across Southeast Asia via fintech, BigPay intends to grow in more ASEAN countries during the course of 2021.

As part of its continued regional expansion, BigPay also launched its services in Singapore in September 2020.
