KUALA LUMPUR (April 3): Boustead Petroleum Marketing Sdn Bhd (BHPetrol) has appointed Leslie Ng Chie Shean as its new chief executive officer (CEO).

In a statement, the Boustead Holdings Bhd subsidiary said Ng took over as CEO on April 1, 2020. He succeeds Tan Kim Thiam, who retired from the position on Dec 31, 2019.

BHPetrol’s acting CEO Azizul Azily will resume his duties as its general manager of supply, retail and government and public affairs.

Ng has had an extensive career in the oil and gas (O&G) industry, specifically in the retail petroleum sector.

“This includes 26 years with Shell during which he held various leadership positions, both in the domestic market and in the Asia Pacific region, helming two of Shell’s largest downstream businesses of retail and lubricants. He is well-versed in key areas such as new market entry, business development, network expansion, marketing, strategy, B2B/B2C sales, retail sales and operations, distribution and business IT/automation,” BHPetrol said.

Prior to his appointment at BHPetrol, Ng was the CEO of Cambodia-based Blue Ocean Group’s O&G, property and retailing divisions.

He also was a freelance consultant for O&G companies in areas such as petrol stations and lubricants, organisational transformation, market entries, and marketing and acquisitions.

At 3:53pm, shares in Boustead Holdings were trading 1.16% or half a sen lower at 42.5 sen, giving it a market capitalisation of RM861.47 million.
