Best-of-both-worlds_deD_8Sept2015_theedgemarketsWITH his latest autumn/winter 2015 collection, British designer Paul Smith is bringing new meaning to the travel suit. Known for making menswear pieces that are ‘classic with a twist’, Smith breathes new life to men’s tailoring and is taking his menswear line to another level with A Suit To Travel In, which displays a contemporary silhouette constructed from high-quality and functional material.

The classic suit in this latest collection is inspired by a concept that is perfect for modern living. Made from high-twist, 100% wool yarn and constructed with quick recovery, crease-resistant cloth, A Suit to Travel In is also water-repellent, adding to its versatile and highly practical appeal. The fabric makes the suit easy to wear in warmer weather as well as colder climes, while the crease-resistant cloth gives the suit versatility without sacrificing style.

To show off the highly functional qualities of the suit, Paul Smith debuted this collection in the most original way. Presented earlier this year at London Collections: Men, the show involved a series of jaw-dropping feats where artists from the National Centre for Circus Arts and Olympic medal-winning athlete Mac Whitlock performed while wearing A Suit To Travel In. The presentation was directed by Struan Leslie, who is the former head of movement for the Royal Shakespeare Company. Handstands, backflips and forward rolls were part of the performance and highlighted the extreme versatility of the new suit. The fabric’s resistance to creasing and quick recovery made the suit appear immaculate during and after the performance.

Whether you are saving the world or just dashing off to a meeting, A Suit To Travel In guarantees that you will do it in style. Commenting on the suit, Smith proudly says, “My new Suit To Travel In is a suit that really works. We’re travelling it around and showing it in a way that celebrates its ability to move and putting it through its paces in an extreme way. The suit is perfect for all the climates that the artists will be travelling through as the cloth is 100% wool, so it’s breathable and the construction allows for lots of movement. It’s a suit you can tour the world in!”

The suit will be doing just that beginning this September, as the same artists from the London runway show will tour the world while wearing A Suit To Travel In to perform in Shanghai, Taipei, Bangkok, Mumbai, Moscow and Dubai. A perfect way to show off the flexibility and elasticity, expect A Suit To Travel In to win many fans along the way. Already considered an icon of British menswear, this travel suit will definitely take Paul Smith to new heights.

A Suit To Travel In will be available at Paul Smith boutiques worldwide beginning this month.
