KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 23): British American Tobacco (Malaysia) Bhd (BAT Malaysia) emerged as the Best International Organisation and Outstanding Practice — Initiative for Women Workforce at the Life At Work 2019 Awards.

In a statement today, BAT Malaysia said the awards are organised annually by the Ministry of Human Resources (MOHR) through its agency Talent Corporation Malaysia Bhd (TalentCorp) and in collaboration with the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM) to celebrate organisations whose leading workplace strategies demonstrate a drive and commitment to not just recruiting but nurturing and cultivating local talent in the workforce.

BAT Malaysia said it beat 62 other international companies within its category as the Best International Organisation.

The company said as an advocate of diversity and inclusivity in the workplace, TalentCorp’s nod to the company’s efforts in creating a progressive environment for women talent in the workplace sealed BAT Malaysia’s position as a forward-thinking employer.

BAT Malaysia managing director Jonathan Reed said the award reiterated its commitment to inclusion and diversity, in line with the principle of creating a dynamic and purposeful place to work.

“Our employer value proposition has consistently been recognised globally, and this win further reiterates our strategy in attracting, growing and retaining talent.

“We will continue to foster strong employee engagement and build a future-fit culture, in line with our ethos of being bold, fast, empowered, responsible and diverse,” he said.

In the past year, BAT Malaysia has won other accolades, including at Top Employers Malaysia 2020, Top Employers Asia Pacific 2020, Top Employers Global 2020, Best Companies to Work for In Asia 2020 and the HR Excellence Awards 2019.
