KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 21): The international reserves of Bank Negara Malaysia rose 0.1% to US$104.3 billion as at Feb 14, 2020, from US$104.2 billion as at Jan 31, 2020.

In a statement today, the central bank said the reserves position is sufficient to finance 7.4 months of retained imports and is 1.1 times the total short-term external debt.

The largest portion of the international reserves was foreign currency reserves, which slipped to US$97.2 billion from US$97.7 billion, while special drawing rights rose to US$1.2 billion. International Monetary Fund reserves was unchanged at US$1.1 billion.

Gold reserves, meanwhile, was also maintained at US$1.9 billion, while other reserve assets rose to US$2.9 billion from US$2.4 billion.

The central bank's total assets as at Feb 14 stood at RM451.22 billion, while currency in circulation amounted to RM114.51 billion.
