KUALA LUMPUR (April 18): Axiata Group Bhd is placing out 136.63 million shares in edotco Group Sdn Bhd to Malaysia's Retirement Fund (Inc) for US$100 million (RM440.95 million) to further capitalise edotco.

Telecommunication tower owner and operator edotco is a subsidiary of Axiata. Retirement Fund (Inc) is also known as Kumpulan Wang Persaraan (Diperbadankan) (KWAP).

Axiata told Bursa Malaysia today KWAP's selection was based on the same process and valuation of earlier private placements of edotco shares to Innovation Network Corp of Japan (INCJ) and Khazanah Nasional Bhd subsidiary Mount Bintang Sdn Bhd.

"On the date of closing of this (KWAP) transaction which is expected to take place by end of April 2017, taking into consideration the subscription by KWAP of edotco shares above, Axiata will remain as the majority shareholder holding 62.4% of the issued shares of edotco with INCJ, Khazanah and KWAP collectively holding 37.6%," Axiata said.
