PETALING JAYA (Sept 19): It has been a tough year for premium car manufacturer Audi Malaysia due to weak market sentiment and uncertainties, says its marketing director Rudi Venter.

However, the company foresees sales picking up beginning early next year following the introduction of more high-end vehicle models.

"Business has been understandingly difficult for us ... we [foresee] our sales performance this year to be lower than what we achieved in 2015," Venter told theedgemarkets.com after the launch of the new Audi A4 today.

Although he did not reveal any sales figure, Venter said Audi will continue to invest "a huge sum of money, time and effort" to improve its after-sales services, on top of introducing more high-end models beginning the first quarter of next year.

The latest Audi A4, imported from Germany, now carries a 2.0-litre TFSI engine. It replaces the outgoing 1.8-litre variant.

Priced at RM248,900, the new A4 maintains claimed class-leading fuel consumption rating of 5 litres per 100km and CO2 emissions rating of 114g/km.
