KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 8): Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd is offering bundled broadband internet with Astro's Family Pack comprising over 40 channels at prices from RM99 onwards beginning next month.

In a statement today, Astro said the move is in support of the government's National Fiberisation and Connectivity Plan (NFCP).

According to its chief executive officer designate Henry Tan, the offering is set to increase customer engagement as the bundled proposition also includes the option to enjoy shows on-demand via set top boxes as well as mobile phones and tablets.

"Astro is pleased to be part of the NFCP and will be offering our new broadband bundle with our content to our customers," said Tan.

Prices for the bundled service come in two options: RM99 for 50Mbps broadband service and RM129 for 100Mbps.

Meanwhile, Astro's Family Pack content offering includes key Astro channels like Astro Ria and Astro Prima, as well as NatGeo WILD and FOXlife, among others.

Presently, Astro has already started a pilot project in Jasin, Melaka, where the brand's household penetration rate is at a strong 92%. The project offers complimentary broadband access and free channel previews through January for Astro customers who signed up for the bundle service.

NJOI customers who signed up will similarly enjoy complimentary broadband this month, and an immediate upgrade to Astro's Family Pack.

"Astro will contact eligible homeowners in Jasin for this special promotion, which is valid till Jan 31, 2019," the statement said.

At the noon market break, Astro's share price rose 5 sen or 3.57% to RM1.45, giving it a market capitalisation of RM7.56 billion.
