KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 1): Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd has teamed up with beIN Sports to offer live coverage of the UEFA Champion League (UCL) and UEFA Europa League (UEL) from the 2018/19 season to 2020/21.

Astro said both competitions will be offered on beIN SPORTS and beIN's dedicated UEFA channel — beIN SPORTS MAX.

"As the 'home of sports', we are pleased to partner beIN to broadcast three new seasons of UCL and UEL in Malaysia on beIN SPORTS. Fans can also catch beIN SPORTS linear channels on Astro Go at their convenience," Astro chief of sports Lee Choong Khay said in a statement.

beIN Asia Pacific managing director Mike Kerr said football fans can now enjoy the best European football action through this service as it is also offering LaLiga and Ligue 1 — Spanish and French football leagues respectively — besides UEL and UCL.

"They are the only annual tournaments where all the megastars of football such as Ronaldo, Messi, Neymar and Salah gather to battle for supremacy. We are especially thrilled we could make this happen with Astro as we want to continue to deliver the best football experience and fuel local fans' passion for the beautiful game," Kerr added.

Representing the pinnacle of club football in Europe, the UCL 2018/19 season brings exciting changes in the competition format.

With more European clubs qualifying automatically from their domestic leagues including four top clubs each from Spain, Germany, England and Italy, football fans can look forward to more dramatic action as teams such as Manchester United, Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, Barcelona and defending champion Real Madrid battle it out to for the final face-off in Madrid in June 2019, Astro said.

As for UEL, it is the largest club football tournament in Europe. This season, fans can witness the sensational clashes between 48 teams which include Arsenal, Chelsea, A.C. Milan, Sevilla, Lazio, and more from 27 European countries, said Astro.

The competition will culminate in Azerbaijan — the same week as the UEFA Champions League final.
