KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 13): Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd has appointed Shafiq Abdul Jabbar as its chief financial officer (CFO), effective Jan 9, 2017.

Prior to this, Shafiq was CFO of CIMB Bank Bhd since Jan 1, 2012.

Before that, he was an executive director in multinational professional services group Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PwC), after serving in several managerial positions in PwC's Kuala Lumpur and London offices, where he was involved in assurance and advisory services to key clients on Bursa Malaysia and the FTSE 100.

Astro closed up 2 sen or 0.74% at RM2.74 today, translating to a market capitalisation of RM14.27 billion.
