KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 6): Asia Media Group Bhd has been issued a formal query on unusual market activity (UMA) from Bursa Malaysia, after its share price plunged 35.29% to 16.5 sen, from 26 sen today.

In a filing, the regulator drew attention to the “sharp fall in price and volume" of the company's shares recently.

In the 45 minutes between 2.35pm and 3.10pm, Asia Media’s shares registered a fall from 25 sen to 16.5 sen. The counter closed at 16.5 sen, after some 14.24 million shares were traded.

Comparatively, its 200-day average trading volume is just 6.18 million shares.

Shares in the digital outdoor media provider have been on a choppy uptrend since June this year. The share price more than tripled in five months from 8 sen on June 6 to its one-year high of 27 sen on Nov 17.

On Nov 24, Asia Media tumbled 22% to 19.5 sen, from 25 sen in morning trade. However, the share rebounded to close unchanged by end of day.

Asia Media is required to reply to Bursa's UMA query on whether any unannounced corporate development, rumours or reports may account for the unusual trading activity.
