KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 2): ARA Asset Management Ltd is considering listing a real estate investment trust in Malaysia with ~RM2 billion (US$472 million) of assets, according to people familiar with the matter.

* The Singapore-based company is talking to banks about advising on possible Bursa Malaysia listing in the first quarter, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the process is private

* The company aims to raise ~RM500 million from planned IPO, the people said

* REIT to include five Malaysian shopping centers: 1 Mont Kiara, Klang Parade and Citta Mall in Kuala Lumpur; Ipoh Parade in northern state of Perak; and AEON Mall in Malacca, said the people

* A representative for ARA declined to comment

* ARA manages close to 100 properties measuring 57 million square feet in Asia Pacific, with ~S$35 billion assets under management, according to its website
